Installing Teacher's Personal Markbook |

After you download the Teacher's Personal Markbook install program, you can then run it to install the program on your computer. Depending on your Web browser you may choose to run the install program directly from it. Please click on the Read more link at the right to view this tutorial.
Below is how the icon for the install program appears on the desktop when running Windows Vista, its appearance and where it is may be different on your computer.
1. Double click on Tpminst.exe to start the installation process. The installer requires MSI and may not run on some versions of Windows. If you do get an error message, you can try the alternate installation file.

2. If you are using Windows Vista a User Account Control pop-up may appear when you start Tpminst.exe. The exact look can this pop-up may vary, but the key point is that Windows reports that the installation program is from an unidentified publisher. This message is quite common with software from smaller software companies, and in this case on you can choose the Allow option to continue.

3. The install program is called InstallShield and it takes a few moments to check your system before the installation process starts. If you are using a relatively old version of Windows you may find that the install cannot continue, and if that is the case please contact

4. To install Teacher's Personal Markbook you must agree to the Licence Agreement. It is recommended that you read through this, but in summary what you need to know is that the trial version is yours to use for free for 30 days and that you are not allowed to give away or sell copies of the program once you have purchased a licence. No additional software is installed at the same time as Teacher's Personal Markbook and there is no fine print where you are signing up for services that you do not need or want.

5. Normally you would continue with the Typical set up, but if you do want to change the destination for the program you can choose Custom which will then give you the option of browsing for a suitable folder for the program.

6. After the previous steps, you are ready to start the actual installation. Please make a note of the destination folder in case you need that information later. Also the User Information may be blank but that does not matter as it is not used by Teacher's Personal Markbook.

7. The actual copying of files during installation should only take a few moments, but it may take over minute depending on your system.

8. Finally the InstallShield Wizard is finished and you can immediately start Teacher's Personal Markbook and if you want view the readme file.

9. Here is how Teacher's Personal Markbook appears the first time you run it. This and the previous screen images were done on Windows Vista so if you are using Windows XP, or have another Windows Theme set the border of the program window may look different.

10. A shortcut for the program is also installed on your desktop and under the TPM group in the Windows Start menu. When running Teacher's Personal Markbook with Windows Vista it is important to use the program shortcuts otherwise sometimes you may get a message indicating that the program cannot run.
